What Is It?

Semantic Mapping is a strategy used as a visual aid to associate and make connections between a keyword and other vocabulary words.

Materials

  • Whiteboard
  • Expo Marker
    or
  • Paper
  • Graphic Organizer
  • Pencil

How to use it:

1.  Select a keyword that you would like your students to work on.

2.  Have students put keyword in center of web and generate target words that are associated with it.

3.  Discuss the relationships among the words in a whole class discussion.

4.  Display student work for future reference.
